The John Forming Arts

What the AF are John Forming Arts?

The building fka “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts” is back in the news. Why is the center at center stage again? The Center is a distraction from the war/not-war, Trump Diarrhea Syndrome, the screwworm infestation, etc. (Look over there!)

A NYT article on Monday, July 27 discussed tours still being held at the largely gutted Center. A tour guide said “This place used to be really thriving and busy and crowded. Now it's a black hole”. On July 30, the center halted the tours and told the tour guides not to report for duty until further notice.

StationWTAF has filed a request for more info with the Smithsonian Office of General Counsel. The Smithsonian charges 15 cents a page for reproduction and $16, $24 or $48 per hour, depending on complexity of the request. Unless the memo was a lengthy diatribe, the total cost should be $16.30 or so. Well worth it to keep the WTAF audience in the know.

In addition to a request for the tour guide memo, StationWTAF wants to know why the Center is now called “The John Forming Arts” (Look over there!). Not sure who to ask. If anyone knows or wants to take a guess, please reach out.
